President, PM condemn Assam serial blasts
New Delhi (PTI): President, Vice President and the Prime Minister on Thursday strongly condemned the serial blasts that ripped through Assam claiming several lives and said people should stand united to defeat the designs of terrorists.
"There is no place for violence in our society. At this moment all of us should stand united against divisive forces in the country," President Pratibha Patil said in a message.
Observing that such terrorist acts coinciding with the festive season were intended to disturb social harmony, Vice President Hamid Ansari urged all citizens to unite in combating this scourge.
In his message, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said such barbaric acts targeting innocent men, women and children only highlight the desperation and cowardice of those responsible.
Offering his condolences to the families of those killed and sympathies to those injured in the blasts, he hoped that people would rise unitedly against these attempts to disturb peace and harmony and to destroy the social fabric.
"We will take all possible steps to maintain peace and bring the perpetrators of such acts to justice," the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee expressed sorrow at the loss of lives in the serial blasts and offered his sympathies for the families of the bereaved.
"I hope that such acts do not result in disturbing peace in the region, which is in the interest of the people of the country as a whole," Chatterjee said.
He also wished speedy and complete recovery of those injured.

New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) The country has witnessed 64 serial blasts in six states in less than six months leaving 215 people dead and nearly 900 injured. But, like before, Home Minister Shivraj Patil today parroted his usual response saying "these are cowardly acts perpetrated by the elements which do not want peace to prevail..." His assessment this time came shortly after serial blasts ripped Assam claiming over 60 lives. The trend of serial blasts in quick succession began with the multiple explosions in Jaipur in May this year when nine blasts rocked the Pink city killing 65 people and 150 injured."Their aim (to create communal disturbances) has been thwarted. The people of Jaipur have not allowed their nefarious design to succeed," Patil had said then. This was followed by nine blasts in Bangalore after which the Home Ministry came out with a statement "such incidents will not deter the government from pursuing its policy with anti-national elements in a resolute manner." A day after Bangalore blasts, 18 explosions shook Ahmedabad killing 57 people and injuring 130 others and the statement from the Ministry was "anti-national elements have been trying to create panic among the people in our country".As terror spread its tentacles to the national capital which was rocked by six serial blasts killing 26 people and 50 others, the Ministry said "the government has taken a series of measures recently to beef up security in Delhi. Whatever more is required to be done will be done expeditiously." Thee were four serial blasts in Tripura too during this period. After today's 18 blasts in Assam, Patil said it was a handiwork of those who did not want peace to prevail. PTI

Not India's First Woman Saint

The indomitable Francois Gautier produces another excellent article -

http://indiaview.wordpress.com/
Francois Gautier, PioneerIndian media went into a tizzy while covering the canonisation of Sister Alphonsa, an obscure nun, to prove its secular credentials! Indian journalists forget that this country has had other women saints too.As a Frenchman, I was coached right from childhood that logic, what we in France call cartesianism, is the greatest gift given to man and that one should use one's reason to tread in life. Thus, I taught to my students in a Bangalore school of journalism, the SSCMS, that the first tool of a good reporter is to go by his or her own judgement on the ground, with the help of one's first-hand experience — and not go by second hand information: What your parents thought, what you have read in the newspapers, what your caste, religion, culture pushes you into…Yet in India, logic does not seem to apply to most of the media, especially when it is anything related to Hindus and Hinduism. One cannot, for instance, equate Muslim terrorists who blow up innocent civilians in market places all over India to angry ordinary Hindus who attack churches without killing anybody. We know that most of these communal incidents often involve persons of the same caste — Dalits and tribals — some of them converted to Christianity and some not. However reprehensible was the destruction of the Babri Masjid, no Muslim was killed in the process. Compare that with the 'vengeance' bombings of 1993 in Mumbai, which killed hundreds of innocent people, mostly Hindus. Yet Indian and Western journalists keep equating the two, or even showing the Babri Masjid destruction as the most horrible act of the two.How can you compare the Sangh Parivar with the Indian Mujahideen, a deadly terrorist organisation? How can you label Mr Narendra Modi a mass killer when actually it was ordinary middle class, or even Dalit Hindus, who went out into the streets in fury when 56 innocent people, many of them women and children, were burnt in a train? How can you lobby for the lifting of the ban on SIMI, an organisation which is suspected of having planted bombs in many Indian cities, killing hundreds of innocent people, while advocating a ban on the Bajrang Dal, which attacked some churches after an 84-year-old swami and his followers were brutally murdered? There is no logic in journalism in this country when it applies itself to minorities. Christians are supposedly only two per cent of the population in India, but look how last Sunday many major television channels showed live the canonisation ceremony of Sister Alphonsa, an obscure nun from Kerala and see how Union Minister Oscar Fernandes led an entire Indian delegation to the Vatican along with the Indian Ambassador. It would be impossible in England, for instance, which may have a two per cent Hindu minority, to have live coverage of a major Hindu ceremony, like the anointment of a new Shankaracharya. What were the 24×7 news channels, which seem to have deliberately chosen to highlight this non-event, trying to prove? That they are secular? Is this secularism? The headline of the story "India gets its first woman saint", run by many newspapers, both Indian and Western, is very misleading. For India has never been short of saints. The woman sage from over 3,000 years ago, Maithreyi, Andal, the Tamil saint from early in the first Millennium CE and Akkamahadevi, the 15th century saint from modern-day Karnataka, are but a few examples of women saints in India. What many publications failed to mention in the story is that this is the first woman Christian saint — not the first Indian woman saint. This statement is ok, when it comes, for instance, from the BBC, which always looks at India through the Christian prism (BBC ran a few months back an untrue and slanderous documentary on Auroville), but when it comes to the Indian media, it only shows the grave lack of grounding in Indian culture and history of most Indian journalists. As a result, they suffer from an inferiority complex. This inferiority complex, as expressed by television's live coverage of the canonisation of Sister Alphonsa, is a legacy of the British, who strove to show themselves as superior and Indian culture as inferior (and inheritor of the 'White Aryans', a totally false theory). Is it not time to institute schools of journalism, both private and public, where not only logic will be taught, but where students shall be made aware of Indian history and of the greatness of Indian culture, so that when they go out to report, they will use their own judgement and become Indian journalists, with a little bit of feeling, pride and love for their own country?

Rahul Gandhi says dynasty politics must end

http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080069471&ch=10/20/2008%206:27:00%20PM

"Acknowledging that he was in politics because of his lineage to the Gandhi-Nehru family, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Monday said he wanted to change the system of politician's family members getting easy entrance into politics."I would not have been here, if I was not from a political family. If you do not have money, a family or friends, you cannot enter politics," Rahul told a group of girls here."

*************************

A rare case of honesty from the Nehru family and congress. One muct congratulate Rahul Gandhi for this. Is this confession because of his inexperience and will we see a "misquoted by press" statement soon? In any case, Rahul still likes it and will continue using it, just that he will prevent others from doing so in the future.

"But I want to change this," he said during the nearly hour-long interaction on the first day of his three-day visit to Uttarakhand."

Can we start with you first?

VHP provides proof of Church involvement in Murder

http://www.telegraphindia.com/1081020/jsp/jharkhand/story_9992866.jsp

VHP shows copy of ‘death resolve’
OUR CORRESPONDENT
Ranchi, Oct. 19: State unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today claimed to have obtained documentary evidence that indicates involvement of the church in the murder of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and his four associates at Kandhamal in Orissa on August 23.
Unit president, R.S. Rungta, made the copy the document available to the journalists and said: “the murder was pre-planned and was committed by missionaries involved in converting the religion of poor by way of allurement.”
The document is the copy of resolution taken in Parish meeting organised at Batikala village of Kandhamal district on May 25 at 11am under the chairmanship of a Father Prafulla Kumar Nayak.
Original resolution was written in Oriya, but VHP had printed the Devanagri transcript below and also translated the document in Hindi and English languages.
The document, signed by Ranjeet Kumar Nayak and 14 others, indicates that the missionaries had planned to eliminate the saint on the direction of Bishop, who was finding the saint a hurdle before the expansion of Christianity among Hindu tribals.
The document also indicates that the date of murder, August 23, the foundation day of VHP and Janmastami, was also pre-planned. It also mentions that the missionaries had also decided to conduct “Christian victory celebration” in all the Abbey circles of the Parish after the successful completion of the task.
Rungta said the copies of the document was made available to the chief minister of Orissa Naveen Patnaik, and was being released throughout the country to expose the “pseudo secular” forces who hold Bajrang Dal and VHP responsible for the violence in Orissa and other parts of the country.
The document has come at a time when it is being said that rebels were involved in murder of the saint and many political parties were demanding ban on the activities of VHP and Bajrang Dal for their involvement in attack on churches throughout the country

Manmohan Singh decides to lecture Sri Lanka on how to maintain safety for civilians. Its the case of the blind leading the blind. The untenebility of Manmohan Singhs stand on the military action in Sri Lanka apparently hasnt yet struck him yet.
One must congratulate Karunanidhi on taking a stand here and making a point that Tamil population wherever they are are the concern of the Tamil leaders. When will he raise the case of Tamils in Malaysia?

"VISAKHAPATNAM: Every morning, the town of Yelamanchili in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh wakes up to the sublime strains of ‘Suprabhatam’ from the town’s unique Veda Vidyalayam.
No one bothers to look up the clock — they know it has to be 5:00 a.m., and the soothing wake-up call is followed by the chanting of Vedic hymns by the young choristers of the Vidyalaya.
Throughout the day, the sonorous mantras emanating from the Vedic school envelope the neighbourhood with a mystic aura. This school of Vedic learning is part of the efforts aimed at preserving the hoary tradition. Quietly lending a helping hand are some senior citizens whose endeavour goes by the name of Gayatri Seva Trust."

Kandhamal and Bengaluru

http://expressbuzz.com/edition/story.aspx?title=Kandhamal+and+Bengaluru&artid=jMz3AgcPT6o=&SectionID=d16Fdk4iJhE=&MainSectionID=HuSUEmcGnyc=&SEO=Kandhamal+arson&SectionName=aVlZZy44Xq0bJKAA84nwcg==

Incisive analysis by Gurumurthy.

"No major clash between the Kandhas and the Panas was reported before the missionaries entered Kandhamal. The Christian population in Kandhamal which was some two per cent in 1961 and six per cent in 1971, rose to 27 per cent in 2001.These numbers speak volumes. Yet, now the missionaries, media and the seculars shout from house tops that only after VHP and Bajrang Dal have entered the scene, there are clashes and the minorities are being butchered."

Christians have to be the biggest whiners in the world. By that I mean believing Christians and not all people from the West, for they are 2 different types. Christians did the witch hunt in Europe wiping off the native religions of the people, crusades , the inquisition against the native american population both in South and North America, Portugese Inquisition in Goa, now they are causing probleems in various parts of Indias North-East and other parts of India. And Despite all this they claim to be persecuted no matter where they are. This attitude stems from the fact that the existence of Christianity is dependant on the context of oppression, real or imaginary, akin to Communism that needs a class-conflict to survive agains real or imaginary.

PM Manmohan rebuilds Churches in Kandhamal but nothing to Hindus

http://www.odishatoday.com/orissa/Sangh_protest_pmo_move_191008-6576544428075.html

"the Prime Minister offered financial help to reconstruct the churches and homes demolished during the communal riots that broke out following the death of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati, when Samuel Kobiya, general secretary of the Geneva-based World Council of Churches met him at New Delhi. Singh also told the Christian leaders that a three-member central delegation, led by a Cabinet Minister, would be sent to Orissa soon to prepare a rehabilitation plan with the State Government."

"On the other hand their Christian counterparts are enjoying their life with free food and accommodation in relief camps. They are being provided with free medicine, clothing and all other daily essentials, he added. Even many of the inmates in the relief camps are enjoying their life. In places like Raikia neither houses of the Christians have been damaged nor do they face any security problem from local neighbours. On the contrary the tribal women on several occasions have staged protests before local Government officials like BDOs to provide them work and food. But the officials have not taken any step to ensure them work and income so that these tribal people could sustain their life on their own, Dash alleged. The members of Christian community who are staying in Government run relief camps are busy in writing FIRs accusing tribals of their involvement in riots."

******************************************

PM Manmohan Singh offering financial help to Christians only goes against the anti-discrimination provision enshrined in our constitution. This discrimination against Hindus on the basis of religion is something that has been going on for many decades now but has taken on a dangerous dimension now due to the disporportionately large Christian presense in government. Hindus are the victims in this situation but they are also the ones being punished.

BHUBANESWAR: For far too long, Left wing extremists have wilfully avoided giving a religious tinge to their ideology. But their recent advances into the realm, calling war against ‘Hindu fascist forces’ and claiming the killing of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati may just have exposed them to vulnerabilities of taking sides with (or against) a faith.
Intelligence reports suggest the operation has begun to take toll on the organisation

An excellent article in Express Buzz (http://www.expressbuzz.com) by Siba Mohanty. This brings out the Christian -Maoist nexus that exists in Orissa with the sole purpose of killing/harassing hindus. A strange situation exists in Orissa. Everywhere in the world, Maoism and Christianity has not co-existed as they are in-compatible. Only in India are a large number os Maoist supporters Christians. Maoism is only the camoflouge under which these people call continue converting innocent tribals under the shadaow of the gun. This is following the trend that has been set by Christians all over the world ranging from South America, Europe, and Africa and closer home in Goa where conversions were preceded by mass killings of the non-christians.

Srinagar, Oct 19 (PTI) The Hurriyat Conference and other separatist outfits today said they will boycott the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir which they termed as a "futile exercise"."Hurriyat has nothing to do with this meaningless exercise and would ask the people to stay away from it as well," Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the separatist amalgam's moderate faction, said after the Election Commission announced the seven-phased poll schedule for the border state. The Hurriyat leader said rather than focusing on the real issue-- the settlement of Kashmir, the government was trying to give an impression that Kashmir was an "administrative" problem which could be fixed by holding elections.

******************************************************************

One one hand the Hurriyat conference complains to everybody and their mom that India is stifling democracy in Kashmir and when it is time to exercise the democratic right by voting out an unpopular government and voting in their choice, the Hurriyat backs away and hides behind their familiar rhetoric. Their Pakistani handlers really need to be a little more creative for they and their poodle ,the Hurriyat, is getting all too predictable!

No proof of Bajrang Dal role in Rape - Orissa Govt

http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14779602

Nun's rape: Orissa asks for proof of Bajrang Dal role
Friday, 17 October , 2008, 21:32

New Delhi: The Orissa government on Friday told the Supreme Court that the archbishop of Cuttack must substantiate his allegation that Bajrang Dal activists were behind the rape of a nun in the state's troubled Kandhamal district.
Senior counsel K K Venugopal, appearing for the Orissa government before a Bench of Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice P Sathasivam, refuted allegations of Bajrang Dal activists being responsible for the nun's rape.
Palin look-alike strippers to strut in pageant
Venugopal submitted that before seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the case, the Archbishop Raphel Cheenath should substantiate his allegations with credible evidence.

***********************************************

Once again, allegations by the church get wide coverage in the press and the facts and truth get lost in the fog of words. There is'nt any truth in Mr.Cheenaths' allegations says the counsel for Orissa Government. Finally we are seeing some truth coming out. Such practices by the church setup in India to come out with wild allegations against the hindu community is an old practice. Unfortunately, with the media firmly behind them, neither are the allegations refuted nor the refutations, if any, ever published.
On the side, John Dayals rant on Rajdeep Sardesai CNN-IBN, that there are no outsiders preaching Christianity in Kandhamal and all the preachers are Kandhamal locals, is proved wrong since Father Thomas Chellantharayil is said to be from Kerala. Another incident of lies from the religion of love and silence from the hindus.

Sangh Parivar leaders not allowed to enter Kandhamal

Arrest conspirators and culprits, says fact-finding team
“Violence abetted by the trading community”
BHUBANESWAR: The Kandhamal district administration on Friday prevented four senior Sangh Parivar leaders from going round the riot-hit district that is slowly limping back to normality.
Joint secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Shyamji Gupta; general secretary of the Orissa unit Gauri Prasad Rath; Bajrang Dal national co-convener Subhas Chauhan; and Eastern Zone Coordinator of VHP Basant Rath were stopped by the police at Phulbani, district headquarters of Kandhamal for violating the prohibitory orders. They were then escorted up to the district’s border along with their supporters.

**********************

It is a very unfortunate move by the State Government to ban the visit of Shyamji Gupta to Kandhamal. When the governments of Italy, France and the Pope can comment on a law and order situations that is internal to the Republic of India, why is it that a Indian national cannot visit the spot? Marxists and Naxals who openly proclaim war against the state of India and its citizens, can have an arranged tour of the area, but not Shyamji Gupta who has helped in setting up numerous tribal welfare units along with the late Sri Lakshmananda ? The state is proclaiming the guilty verdict against the wrong persons. The investigation by the police has led to the conclusion that Maoists hitmen were hired to kill the swamiji. Please see link below for details on police findings - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/Maoists_hired_to_kill_VHP_leader_claim_Orissa_police/articleshow/3607105.cms

Very clearly the report says that a "particular community" had hired Maoists to train and kill the 80 year old swami. Who else will do it? the conclusions are obvious for all to see. Inspite of this the state government continues to punish and blame the wrong people. Our highly communal media will continue to publish allegations against hindus that are completely baseless but will not publish factual reports of the violence(my thanks to TOI for publishing this police report.... respect!!!), the great charade that is the human rights organisations will browbeat the government into acting against the victims, traitor and hindu hater John Dayal with his goons will internationalise a domestic issue and a guilty verdict will be passed on the victims. This is the farce that passes for a fair and just system in India.

All Indian patriots, please be aware of this and do not be misled by opinions that are being passed around as fact. Please do not blame the brave followers of Lakshmananda here for they are as much victims here as the late swami himself.
